Advocacy — Improving access to patch testing units

The AADA’s advocacy efforts, along with the Dermatologic Medicare Contractor Advisory Committee, ensured that both MACs understood the dermatology patient’s perspective by revising their proposed LCD and increasing the number of patch testing units from 65 to 80.

Dermatologic Medicare Contractor Advisory Committee (DermCAC)

The DermCAC serves as a national coalition of dermatologist representatives selected by their respective state dermatology societies. Each representative is committed to monitoring local Medicare policy issues, reporting them to the national committee, and actively participating in local Medicare policy discussions.

Small group practice (6-15 practitioners)

Small group dermatology practices typically consist of 2-10 physicians who work collaboratively under private ownership. These practices offer a middle ground between solo practice and large groups, combining the benefits of shared responsibility with greater autonomy.
