Independent practice association (IPA)
An independent practice association (IPA) allows dermatologists to retain their independent practice status while joining a separate entity that negotiates payer contracts on behalf of its members. This model offers a way to preserve autonomy while gaining access to better reimbursement rates, shared administrative services, and collective negotiating power.

Merged practice
A practice merger involves combining your dermatology practice with one or more other practices to expand your geographic reach, diversify services, and gain access to greater financial resources. This model offers opportunities for economies of scale, improved operational efficiency, and stronger negotiating power with payers.
Cash-only practice

Solo practice
Solo dermatology practice offers full autonomy and control for physicians who want to run and manage their own clinic. While this model presents challenges, especially in today’s environment of practice consolidation, it remains a viable and rewarding path for dermatologists who value flexibility, long-term patient relationships, and entrepreneurial freedom.
Group practice without walls (GPWW)
A group practice without walls (GPWW) is a collaborative model where independent dermatology practices operate under a shared tax ID number, combining financial and administrative operations while maintaining clinical autonomy.
