Decomplexing plexiform neurofibromas

Plexiform neurofibromas (PNs) are some of the most disfiguring and therapeutically challenging lesions that dermatologists confront. I admit that my concept of Type I skin red-headed patients getting melanoma was simple: They have a polymorphism(s) of the melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R), pheomelanin, ultraviolet exposure, DNA damage, increased reactive oxygen species, and voila: melanoma! Because confirmatory testing may take weeks, it is reasonable to empirically start treatment for T. indotineae based on patient epidemiologic and clinical features while awaiting confirmatory testing. Potassium hydroxide (KOH) preparation of skin scrapings should be performed in clinic, whenever possible, to confirm fungal infections.

Step 1: Check participation requirements
